MTVs The Hills Star, LC Reported to Have Sex Tape

April 15, 2007 By: Z Category: Current Events, Pop Culture No Comments →

If you’ve listened to our podcasts, you know by now that we are tremendously huge fan’s of MTVs The Hills, mainly because of LC (Lauren Conrad). Well LC seems like a great girl and the perfect girlfriend, however recently it has surfaced that she has a sex tape! It seems like these days you can’t “pass go” in Hollywood unless you have a sex tape, so maybe its her big break. Various internet sources claim that her douche bag ex-boyfriend Jason has been shopping around the sex tape for $500,000 to several porn companies. Against these reports, LC wrote on her blog that no such video exists. I can’t wait to see how this plays out! The Daily Hook will keep you posted and provide links to video footage if it is ever made available!

Cool’eh Magazine and Snitches

November 21, 2006 By: Z Category: Pop Culture No Comments →

Todays question: Are you a snitch?? Well if you are you need to pick up Cool’eh Magazine and read their editorial on Snitchin and its relation to culture (not just in hip-hop). I found this article to be very interesting and it explains the history of snitching, the difference between a wet snitch and a dry snitch as well as other types of snitches. If you have been a snitch in the past this article might change your mindset. Also, the editorial is followed by another pretty comical article about a dude who says he use to go over to his jewish friends house and play a game called ‘gas chamber’ in the telephone booth the kid had in his basement, but the dude’s friend snitched on him to his mother and he has never been back since. Not that there is anything funny at all about playing a game called gas chamber, and I am not condoning that kids around the world start to take part in this game, however, with the recent release of Borat this article is pretty fitting. Think if this article had as much press as this film did. Would the author get sued? Very likely. He exploited his friend by telling him to get in the phone booth and pass out. If you ask me thats on the same level as Borat production crew exploiting Khazaks. But, I have a good sense of humor so I am not condemning either the author or the creators of Borat. I’m just raising a few points that most likely will never be read by anyone except all 2 of The Daily Hook readers. Anyways, back to my original point, if you need some good reading material for the shitter or elsewhere, pick up Cool’eh magazine – if you can find it. Its pretty hip so I’m not sure if its distributed nationwide.

Who wants to be a superhero?

August 03, 2006 By: Z Category: Pop Culture No Comments →

Major Victory

This show is without a doubt the undisputed champion of reality TV!

Airing on Sci-Fi, Who Wants to be a Superheo? Features 12 lunatics running around public in their superhero costumes performing good acts such as rescuing lost children, changing into their outfit without being seen, as well as other heroic feats!

Each week comic book mastermind Stan Lee, who acts as the Donald Trump (as in the Apprentice) eliminates one superhero. My prediction for a winner is ex-stripper turned red-superhero-suit-wearing, Major Victory. This guy plays the part to perfection!

Chris Watters
Disc Jockey
Age: 38

Can levitate and is never knocked down; super-strength; can jump 375 feet straight up; can go 25 minutes without air; super-acute vision; can manipulate sound waves to create noises or throw his voice.

Deaf in left ear. Lactose intolerant.

…the benefit of all mankind.

“Be a winner, not a weiner!”

Major Victory loves to sing karaoke with other superheroes, and he practices yoga when he isn’t fighting crime.

He got his powers from an accidental explosion at a speaker-testing facility.
You can watch some exclusive footage and auditions from the show on Youtube.

The show airs: Thursday @ 9pm EST on SciFi

Full-Body Dance Dance Revolution!!

August 03, 2006 By: Z Category: Pop Culture No Comments →

Alright I’m not really excited about this, so disregard the exclaimation points/!/

Notice the SLASHES, as in ANGER. Anyways, some scientists have taken the time to develop a full body version of the popular Dance Dance Revolution video game. I’m not a scientist so I won’t get into describing how it works, because even if I attempted to get into details I’m sure that I’d fail miserably. So, go do yourself a favor and read the article.

Movie Critic Joel Siegel Walks out of Clerks II Screening

July 27, 2006 By: Z Category: Pop Culture 1 Comment →

..and Silent Bob Strikes Back!

This is FUCKING great! This is the best thing I’ve read all week BY FAR. Good Morning America movie critic Joel Siegel walked out of the screening of Clerks II less than an hour into the movie and made a HUGE scene, apparently. In retaliation, Kevin Smith (aka Silent Bob) rips Joel a new asshole on his personal blog. Here is a little snippet,
“I don’t come down to your job and slap the taste out of your mouth for coming up with a line like “‘Shark Tale’ Is a Halibut Good Time”; so don’t fuck with my stuff WHILE IT’S STILL SCREENING.”
He later continues,
“Leave the diva-like behavior and drama-queen antics to the movie stars, not the movie reviewer, ya’ rude-ass prick.”

This quote barely scratches the surface of what Smith has to say about Siegel. You have to go read the rest. It will MAKE your day for sure.

N’Sync’s Lance Bass is gay!

Oprah Winfrey denies that she’s gay!

July 18, 2006 By: Z Category: Pop Culture No Comments →

I am a day late with this news but that doesn’t mean it still isn’t worth making fun of does it? In her magazine, Oprah is quoted as saying that,

“Something about this relationship feels otherworldly to me, like it was designed by a power and a hand greater than my own. Whatever this friendship is, it’s been a very fun ride.”

This is reference to her relationship with one of her close female friends who’s name I would bother looking up if I really cared about this issue! But, I came across some blogger named Cicero’s post about the subject and I thought it was pretty damn funny so I’m gonna post it up.  If this person is as good on the mic as they are writing funny shit about pop culture topics such as this, I need to get him/her on the show! Cicero says,

“‘Otherwordly’? Unless you’re hoooking up with E.T. or Jesus you shouldn’t be saying anything like that. “Designed by a power and a hand greater than my own”? What the fuck is Oprah making in her basement? Robots? Lesbian robots? God, that would be sweet. I would program them to make-out with each other while making whiskey sours. Unless The Intern was there. In which case, they would open cans of PBR. While constructing a stripper pole. Or something like that.”
