The Daily Hook

This is the first mashup ever produced by yours truly. If you aren’t familiar with the term mashup its basically where you take various forms of media, whether it be audio, video, images etc and reconstruct them in an original and unique fashion. The process is very similar to music producers who take various samples and produce an original track.

The mashup is actually an experiment to see if I could produce a viral video powerful enough to generate buzz for another website of mine. I hope to get at least 100,000 views of the video within a couple months and then hope a fraction of the viewers visit my website. Its a hell of a goal but I think its achievable once I can light the fire by spreading the video in a few key places!

I got a vasectomy.

I met a girl soon afterwards. She was nice and attractive but with a selfish streak that raised a big red flag. She was 32 at the time and I could practically HEAR her biological clock ticking. Regardless, she was a good lay, easy on the eyes, and reasonably good company.

I did NOT tell her about my vasectomy and I always used a condom with her to protect against STDs. She assumed, obviously, that the condom was only used for birth control. Silly girl.

I’m not making any accusations, but this video entitled “The New Thing” which was posted on YouTube on June 4th, 2006 looks really familiar to the popular “Slapped” Bud Light commercial which aired during this weekends Super Bowl. Budweiser even plays on the concept that slapping is the new thing. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Budweiser ad, but I just wanted to point out the similarities between the two ads and the continued amateur influence on advertising, and GOOD advertising for that matter.
